In addition to the Surface Pro 8, Microsoft has also launched its new Surface Slim Pen 2, another 2-in-1 laptop – Surface Go 3, Surface Duo 2 foldable phone and many other devices. Here’s a look at all of these in detail.
Microsoft Surface Pro 8
Microsoft has launched the Surface Pro 8 as the most powerful Surface Pro device ever. For this, the Surface Pro 8 comes with a quad-core 11th Gen Intel Evo processor and an edge-to-edge 13-inch PixelSense touchscreen that now supports a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Up to 32 GB of RAM is on offer.
The 2-in-1 laptop is specially designed for Windows 11 and uses various features such as the Dynamic Refresh Rate for optimal and long-lasting performance. Surface Pro 8 comes with two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports and the Surface Connect port for charging. So the Surface Pro 8 can connect to multiple 4K displays, or external storage or GPUs.
Surface Slim Pen 2
The new Signature keyboard with the Surface Pro 8 now comes with Surface Slim Pen 2 and a cutout for it. The stylus charges within the keyboard recess and comes with a built-in haptic motor that mimics the experience of writing or sketching on paper. Microsoft also says the new stylus comes with a Microsoft G6 processor for reduced latency and better precision through the new and redesigned tip.
Surface Go 3
Microsoft Surface Go 3 was introduced as Microsoft’s most portable 2-in-1 to date. The company says the new device is more powerful and capable than before. It comes with Windows 11 ready-made and sports features to make the most of it, such as split screen, one-touch launch for apps like Microsoft Teams, and more.
It features a 10.5-inch display, Dolby Audio, a webcam and more for all the everyday tasks a 2-in-1 laptop can boast of.
Surface Duo 2
Microsoft has unveiled its new foldable smartphone under the name Surface Duo 2. Like its predecessor, Microsoft’s new foldable smartphone comes with two large screens on either side of a foldable form factor that hinges from the center. It is now powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor and has an 8.3-inch PixelSense display when unfolded, which offers a 90Hz refresh rate and is protected by a nano-coated 3D glass. Microsoft calls it the thinnest 5G phone ever made.
The new Microsoft device features a triple camera setup on the back with a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The latter two lenses come with optical image stabilization (OIS) support. There’s now a Glance Bar that appears on the edge of the Surface Duo 2, even when it’s folded, and allows users to see notifications at a glance.
Surface Duo 2 will be available in Glacier and Obsidian colors.
Surface Duo 2 Pen Case
Microsoft has also released a new case for the Surface Duo 2 that comes with a magnet mount for the Surface Slim Pen. The case secures the Surface Slim Pen over the right edge when the Surface Duo 2 is folded, so you’re always aware of the styles while carrying your phone. The case even charges the Surface Slim Pen magnetically.
Microsoft ocean plastic mouse
As part of its commitment to the environment, Microsoft has also announced a new plastic ocean mouse. The shell of this mouse is made from 20 percent recycled ocean plastic. The box the mouse is sold in is 100 percent recyclable, and Microsoft is making it easier to recycle after use through its mail-back program.
Microsoft Surface Adaptive Kit
One of the most innovative launches in the lot is that of the new Microsoft Surface Adaptive Kit. The new accessibility kit aims to make the whole experience of using computers easier for people with disabilities. The kit includes a drawstring tab to make it easier to open the backstand on Surface devices. It features raised keyboard stickers for blind people to use the keyboard easily. Similar stickers are also available for wires and the corresponding ports on the device.
Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio
The showstopper of the event, Surface Laptop Studio, comes as Microsoft’s most powerful Surface device ever. The laptop has a convertible form factor so that it can be used both as a laptop and as a tablet, ie a Surface Studio mode for easy viewing and creative experience.
