Automatically end outdated Teams meetings

Microsoft Teams is coming out with a new feature that can automatically end meetings if they are identified as outdated. If a user is the only participant in a meeting 10 minutes after the scheduled meeting end time has passed, a dialog box appears in the call asking him to end the call or close the notification. If no action is taken on the dialog box within 3 minutes, the meeting is automatically terminated.

If there is more than 1 user in the call and/or the scheduled end time of the meeting has not yet passed, the feature will not be activated.

If the user ignores the notification, they will not see it again for the same meeting and will no longer be at risk of automatic termination.

This post is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 96710.

If a user is the only participant in a meeting that has been identified as out of date, the user sees a dialog box asking to end the call or close the notification. If no action is taken, the meeting will automatically end.

When this will happen

Microsoft will begin rolling out to production in early August 2022 and expect to complete by early September.

Microsoft will begin rolling out to GCC, GCC-H and DoD in late September and expect to complete by late October.
