The Microsoft Teams speed dialing feature aims to bring “one-tap calling” to mobile devices
The “one tap dialing” function can make connecting to regular contacts even smoother. But when does the product arrive on mobile devices?
In the past 12 months, companies have switched to remote working due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the switch, teleworkers have used a wide range of virtual collaboration tools and video conferencing platforms a la Microsoft Teams and Zoom instead of face-to-face meetings. A planned Microsoft Teams feature for iOS could make it easier for mobile users to connect to their video call contacts.
Microsoft Teams Speed Dial: Release Data
On Monday, according to the company, a Teams Speed Dial for iOS feature was added to Microsoft’s 365 roadmap, with a brief description of the upcoming capability.
“Quick dialing comes to mobile devices. This feature makes your most frequently used call contacts easily accessible at the touch of a button,” the web page says.
The mobile speed dialing capability is listed as “in development” on the Microsoft 365 roadmap page. The company uses this status to designate a roadmap feature “that is currently being developed and tested and is not available to customers”. The roadmap page uses a number of status formulations to provide development updates. This includes “rollout,” meaning a “feature will begin rolling out to the first applicable customers and is not yet available to all applicable customers.” When a capability is listed as “launched,” it means “the feature is available to all applicable customers.”
While the feature currently includes a June 2021 release date, a footnote explains that the “Microsoft 365 roadmap includes estimated release dates and descriptions for commercial features,” adding that “all information is subject to change.” (The feature page does not list a similar quick dialing option for Android.)
