Microsoft To Do integration is being rolled out to Outlook for Windows

You can now use the to-do app in Microsoft Outlook for Windows.

What you need to know

  • Microsoft To Do now integrates with Outlook for Windows.
  • The new functionality is being rolled out to current channel users of Outlook.
  • The to-do app is displayed in the pane on the left side of Outlook for Windows.

Microsoft To Do now integrates with Outlook for Windows. Specifically, the integration between To Do and Outlook is being rolled out to current channel users starting with version 2207. The update adds the ability to use the to-do app directly in Outlook for Windows, creating a similar experience to the web version of Outlook.

Microsoft To Do already integrated with the web version of Outlook. Some functionality was also extended to other versions of Outlook through task synchronization. But the newly rolled out integration brings the entirety of the To Do app to Outlook for Windows.

The integration supports viewing highlighted emails in Outlook in Tasks, viewing assigned tasks in the “Assigned to Me” list, and browsing the “My Day” section of Tasks in Outlook.

Microsoft To Do also works with Microsoft Planner. All of your assigned tasks from Planner are displayed in the “Assigned to Me” list.

The task in Outlook has a dark mode, so you can match the black theme in Outlook.

These are the versions of Outlook for Windows that can work with Tasks, as described in a Tech Community message from Microsoft:

  • Current channel version 2201 (build 14827.20000) or higher: available by turning on the Soon-to-be Available switch.
  • Current channel version 2207 (build 15427.20000) or higher: available by default. (Feature rollout is still in progress. Some users may still need to turn on the Coming Soon switch until the feature is fully rolled out).

Use of the Microsoft To Do app in Outlook requires an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription.
