Microsoft Teams now has over 270 million monthly active users

During the annual earnings call with investors, Satya Nadella gave some new usage figures for Teams. The collaboration service now apparently has over 270 million monthly active users.

Microsoft no longer reports daily active Teams users, but there’s a chance those numbers are likely all higher than the 10 million daily active users reported in April 2021. This new monthly active number should still come as no surprise, given that Teams last reached 250 million monthly active users in July 2021. That means an increase of 20 million between the past six months.

However, according to Nadella, Teams is seeing “growth in every segment.” Particularly in the segment of frontline workers. Frontline workers are using 2x yoy, including Walmart, which chose teams for their more than 2 million frontline workers this quarter.

According to Nadella, Teams is also becoming “the standard for unified communications.” The CEO says more than 90% of Fortune 500 companies used Teams Phones this quarter. Earlier, Microsoft shared that 124 organizations had more than 100,000 users using the Teams service for communication and collaboration. In the past, he also said that 3,000 organizations had more than 10,000 users on the platform.

It doesn’t look like the new Omricon variant of the COVID-19 virus is slowing down Teams. You can learn more and delve deeper into the numbers from Microsoft’s FY22 Q2 earnings call on Microsoft’s Investor Relations website.
