Hopefully you’ll never have to use this Microsoft Teams update

Emergency calls on Microsoft Teams get a welcome update

Flagging emergency calls through Microsoft Teams should soon be a lot easier thanks to a new update coming to the service.

The video conferencing platform will soon allow administrators to create customizable banners within Microsoft Teams that alert users when an emergency call comes in.

This should help such calls stand out to users immediately, especially if their attention is divided among a number of other tasks.

In its official entry on the Microsoft 365 roadmap, the company notes that users can confirm their administrator’s message by clicking the banner in a Microsoft Teams call.

This allows administrators to word or phrase the alerts as they need to, which can be extremely useful for schools or industrial customers, who may have very different emergency categorizations.

The feature is still in development for now, but Microsoft has set an expected release date of April 2022, meaning it could arrive soon.

At launch, the feature will be available to Microsoft Teams users around the world on desktop and Mac platforms.
