PowerPoint and OneDrive will get immersive reader support this year.

Microsoft’s embedded reader will be rolled out to more of the company’s apps later this year. In the coming months, PowerPoint and OneDrive will receive support for embedded reader. In addition, students can now enable embed reader in OneNote Forms. Microsoft outlines support for embedded readers in a new post.

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and October 2020 is also the 75th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Immersive Reader was originally created to help people with dyslexia, although the program has evolved to help in other areas as well.

Embedded reader allows you to customize the look of text. You can try the tool on Microsoft Edge to see the options it offers. It can highlight and label speech sharing, change the size and theme of text, focus on specific rules, and has several other ways to make reading easier.

Adding Immersive Reader support to PowerPoint is one of the most requested features, according to Microsoft. When support is available, you can select text from each PowerPoint slide and open the text with embedded reader. The comments section of each slide also supports embedded reader.

By the end of this year, you can also view OneDrive documents with embedded reader.

Immersive Reader support for OneNote Forms is already available, making it easier to read content in Forms.
