Microsoft updates Outlook and OneDrive apps with a variety of iOS 14 features.

Apple is releasing the iOS 14 update to millions of iOS devices today. This new iOS 14 update comes with several new features, including the ability to change the default browser and email client, widgets on the Start screen, and more. Microsoft has announced that Outlook and OneDrive iOS apps will be updated to take full advantage of iOS 14 features.

Below is the list of new features.

• When you update your iOS device with the new Apple operating system and the new version of Microsoft Outlook and Edge, once available in the Apple app store, you can choose Outlook and Edge as default apps.
• Microsoft Outlook and OneDrive give you the ability to add widgets to your iOS and iPad home screens as soon as the new operating system and Microsoft apps are available and you update your operating system.
• With the flexibility to choose the size and location of your widget, you can keep up to date with what’s important with an Outlook calendar widget at a glance to see what the future of your day holds with your work, school, and personal account.
• When you use OneDrive with your personal account, you can view your photo memories with the On This Day feature, highlighting photos taken on this day in previous years. If you don’t have On This Day photos for today, you’ll see your most recent photos you’ve saved in the cloud.

WatchOS 7 Update

Along with iOS 14, Apple is releasing the watchOS 7 update today. That’s why Microsoft Outlook is introducing a new complication improvement for email and calendar.

• Not only can you choose from either or both email or calendar complications, but the calendar complication now also includes an indication of your free or busy status based on the color you chose for your Outlook calendar color, and the email complication indicates how many unfinished messages you have in your Outlook mailbox.

iPadOS

Apple is also releasing iPadOS 14 today. Microsoft is updating the Outlook app to take advantage of the new capabilities.

• With iPadOS 14, Apple Pencil, and Outlook, users can write their emails and their handwritten message is automatically converted to text with Scribble. You can add hand-drawn artwork or diagrams to your emails for added color and context, or you can use the pencil to write your Search keyword or fill out the text fields to quickly schedule a meeting.
• Outlook also supports extended formatting on iPad, so once your handwriting is converted to text, you can add extra structure and dimension to your email communication – touch the symbol with the pencil above your keyboard to view formatting options.
• With iPadOS, you can use Apple’s multitasking feature to open two apps at once. This means you can open Outlook and Edge to copy and drag text and links to your email so you can create and send engaging and informative emails.
• Microsoft is now introducing the ability to drag and drop files and photos to Outlook. For example, you can open your Photos app at the same time as Outlook for iOS on iPad to drag and post a selection of images as email attachments, such as receipts that need to be emailed to your expense management solution.

Features coming into the future:

• This fall, OneDrive will support offline editing of your Office files. You can download your Word, Excel, or PowerPoint files on your iPhone or iPad so you can open and edit them offline in Office or the relevant iPad app.
• OneDrive, which will roll out in September, introduces the new Home experience that brings together your most recently used files, shared libraries, and offline files, whether you last opened them on your mobile device, PC, or Mac.
