Microsoft Reveals AI-Powered Windows Copilot and Dev Home
In an effort to improve the AI-driven functionality of Windows 11, Microsoft has introduced Windows Copilot and Dev Home. These innovations were unveiled during Microsoft’s Build 2023 conference, with the goal of making AI tools more accessible to the community, said Panos Panay, Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer.
Windows Copilot
Windows Copilot is a prominent AI innovation that provides users with centralized AI assistance via a button on the taskbar. According to Microsoft, Windows Copilot will function consistently across apps, programs and windows, giving users a personal assistant-like experience. Windows Copilot for Windows 11 allows users to ask questions, search for information, and perform complex actions such as summarizing content or rewriting emails. Moreover, integrating Bing Chat plugins will increase engagement and customer service.
Dev Home
Another key announcement from Microsoft at the development-focused conference was the introduction of Dev Home, a productivity-focused hub designed to assist developers at every stage of their workflow. WinGet configuration allows developers to quickly set up their development machines with just one command.
In addition, Dev Home includes Dev Drive, a storage volume optimized specifically for developers that promises to improve file system performance and increase security. It is built on the Resilient File System, which Microsoft says offers up to 30 percent improvement in build times for file I/O scenarios. Create a Dev Drive Now.
