Everything new in Microsoft 365 in May

Everything new in Microsoft 365 in May: improved notifications in teams mobile, Viva Goals and more.

Memorial Day weekend is coming up in the United States and that means the month of May is coming to an end. While most people will be enjoying the unofficial kickoff of summer this weekend with a relaxing three-day weekend, Microsoft does want to remind you of the hard work they put into Microsoft 365 this month. The company’s usual summary went live on Thursday, May 26, and there are a few notable things, such as the addition of Viva Goals, tweaks to notifications during meetings on Teams mobile and more.

Viva Goals

We first start with Viva Goals. This is the latest module for Microsoft Viva. It builds on Microsoft’s acquisition of Ally.io and integrates part of that product into Teams. Viva Goals is designed to align your teams with your organization’s strategic priorities, allowing employees to focus on the work and outcomes that are most critical to business results.

Teams notifications on mobile

Teams notifications on mobile

This is followed by the weeks for Teams notifications on mobile. In May, Microsoft updated the app so that managing your incoming notification is a lot easier. You’ll see a lot fewer annoying pop-ups, with a new notification at the top of your screen for messages in the meeting. You can preview, collapse and clear your notifications with one tap.

Microsoft gives Android app Lists

Microsoft Lists for Android

Another major addition to Microsoft 365 in May was the launch of the Microsoft Lists Android app. This is for commercial users and you can access your lists from anywhere. Things like managing events, tracking issues and assets, and unboarding employees are all much easier now.

Storytelling in PowerPoint

Storytelling in PowerPoint

In May, PowerPoint and Teams received a new Storytelling feature. This is an integration with Microsoft Power BI. Allows you to enjoy live, interactive reports in your slides. This is without loss of data interactivity. An enhancement to presenter mode also helps you choose where to display your video feed in a slide and provides more ways to customize content.

Other functions

In addition to the flagship and highlights of Microsoft 365 features we mentioned above, some smaller features have been added this month. That includes a getting started experience in Microsoft Forms and a multi-device experience for Forms. Other than that, Microsoft introduced new templates in Visio for the Web to help you quickly create visual timelines.
