Why your IT policies only stand out when things go wrong
When everything is working, you don’t hear anyone. But as soon as your WiFi falters, your printer is offline or an employee accidentally deletes something without backup … then it’s stress.
Many SMBs operate without a clear IT policy. Everyone arranges it by feel:
– Just an app to the IT partner
– Passwords in a notebook
– OneDrive, USB and mailbox mixed together
It feels fine sometimes, until things go wrong.
What does working without an IT policy cost?
❌ Time: you are unnecessarily putting out fires
❌ Money: downtime and repair costs are often higher than you think
❌ Energy: employees become frustrated and unproductive
You want to get a grip on IT. Without having to deal with it every day.
What exactly is an IT policy?
Think of it as a simple plan on 1 A4 in which you record:
✅ Who has access to which files
✅ What you do in case of an incident
✅ How your employees work safely (at home)
✅ What rules apply to e-mail and passwords
No thick reports, but clarity for your team.
Put it in black and white
📌 With a clear IT policy, you avoid wet-fingeredness.
📌 It provides peace, structure and security.
📌 And it helps you meet NIS2 and modern workplace requirements.
