ISO 27001: Why ALTA-ICT invests in certification for maximum data security

This is the first blog in a three-part series on our certifications.

At ALTA-ICT, we work hard to achieve three key certifications that prove we manage your data and IT environment securely and efficiently. In this blog series, we cover:

✅ ISO 27001 – Data and information security (this blog)
✅ ISO 9001 – Quality Management
✅ NEN 7510 – Specific to information security in healthcare

We kick off with ISO 27001: the international standard for information security. Why do we invest in this? What does it mean for our customers? And why is it crucial that ICT partners are certified? We explain this in detail in this blog.

What is ISO 27001?

For ICT partners, this certification is actually indispensable. But in case you are not yet familiar with it: ISO 27001 is the international standard for information security. It helps organizations to safely manage and protect data -such as personal data, customer data and business-sensitive information. And this goes beyond IT security;it’s about policies, processes and continuous optimization of information security.

With this certification, ALTA-ICT proves that:

  • We actively identify risks and take measures to prevent data breaches.
  • We have processes in place to quickly identify and address cyber threats and security incidents.
  • Your data is in safe hands, whether it’s customer data, company information or access to systems.

That means reliability and security for our customers.

Why do we certify for ISO 27001?

There are several reasons why we invest in this certification, but the main ones are:

Data remains protected-always

Security is not an afterthought, but a core part of our services. Our customers entrust us with their ICT environment and we ensure that it meets the highest standards.

Preparing for future legislation

At the European level, information security is an increasingly important issue. The NIS2 directive and existing AVG legislation impose increasingly stringent requirements on companies working with sensitive data. Soon, ISO 27001 will become a must for many organizations. We are not waiting, but taking the lead.

The norm in the ICT sector

In the ICT industry, ISO 27001 is fast becoming a minimum requirement. Governments and larger companies are already making it mandatory in tenders. Many organizations select their ICT partners based on certifications, to be sure that their data is managed securely.

Secure chain cooperation

Data rarely stays within one organization. Software runs on external servers, data is shared with suppliers, and customers want to be able to trust that their ICT partner handles data with care. ISO 27001 forces us to look not only at our own security, but also that of our suppliers.

Okay, and what does this mean for our customers?

By investing in ISO 27001, we ensure the technical security of data within our systems and support customers with maximum security measures. Although compliance and data breach prevention are a shared responsibility, we ensure that the IT environment meets the highest security standards. In addition, certification provides an important advantage in tenders, as more and more governments and large organizations are working exclusively with certified partners. We also look beyond our own processes: we check whether our suppliers handle customer data securely, so that the entire chain is safeguarded.

Moreover, we are preparing our customers for the future. Legislation around information security is becoming increasingly stringent and obligations such as the NIS2 directive are fast approaching. At ALTA-ICT we do not wait for that, but we already take care now that our customers get the best possible protection.

When is ALTA-ICT ISO 27001 certified?

Achieving ISO certification is a process that takes time. Just applying for a certification audit can take months. That is why we are already making preparations so that we will be fully certified by 2025.

Wait until legislation requires us to take action? That doesn’t suit us. We take charge and make sure our customers always benefit from the best possible security.
