Yammer community notifications are now available in Microsoft Teams.
Yesterday, Microsoft announced the rollout of yammer communities notifications in Microsoft Teams. With millions of employees working remotely or in hybrid environments, it’s more important than ever that employees feel connected. Teams make it easier to collaborate with others, create workplaces, chat, meet virtually with others, and integrate your business solutions, all from a single platform. But many conversations go beyond your working groups and departments and bring together employees who may never have met or never worked together. These kinds of engagements take place in communities. Last year, Microsoft released the Community app for Microsoft Teams, which integrates all your Yammer communities and conversations into Teams. Microsoft is excited to take that integration to the next level.
Get Yammer Community Notifications in Teams
Keep up to date with notifications from your Yammer communities in Teams. After installation, you’ll receive Yammer notifications in the Teams activity feed on the Web, desktop, and mobile.
This means that Teams lets you be notified of high-value scenarios — when announcements are made in communities you’re a member of, and when you’re @vermeld in a conversation. You may then enjoy reading, commenting on the post, and responding with our new inclusive responses without leaving Teams.
Take corporate communication to the next level
The Community’s app in Teams provides a platform for your communities and employees to thrive. Communicators and leaders can now use these notifications and other scenarios in Yammer to keep everyone connected and up-to-date on news and updates by sending push notifications all the way to the lock screen on mobile devices, and providing new insights and feedback on engagement happening on that communication. Perfect for:
- Large-scale announcements such as policy updates, security information and organizational changes
- Frontline and mobile staff who need to access important information and conversations with head office from mobile devices
- Employee communities that include departments, such as the introduction of new employees and communities for diversity and inclusion
- Functional communities that connect people with crowdsourcing solutions, come up with ideas and share them with colleagues (for example: hackathons, events, kick-offs)
Yammer community notifications are now available in the Teams mobile app
If you’re new to Communities, here’s how to use Yammer with Microsoft Teams to keep everyone connected.
Install the Community app in Teams
Each user can install the Community app using the options in the Teams app bar (see below) and pin it down with just a few clicks. IT administrators can also choose to deploy and pin the app to all users or certain departments through custom policies.
Install the Community app, powered by Yammer, from the app store in Microsoft Teams.
Better together
Microsoft continues to deepen community and team integration to help organizations achieve more. Recently, Microsoft added Search to the Internet, desktop, and mobile apps, so you can find and discover community conversations without leaving Teams. Microsoft has also updated the Yammer channel tab to take over the style and functionality of the new Yammer. Users will see this change automatically without having to do anything.
