Working in the sun: nice … until your WiFi breaks down

Summer. Sun. Laptop out and about or even to your vacation spot. Sounds ideal, right?

But then suddenly…

❌ The WiFi falters.
❌ You can’t access your files.
❌ You forgot your charger.
❌ And you wonder: is this actually safe?

Welcome to the reality of summer work for many SMBs.

What do others find the biggest frustration?

We asked via a poll on LinkedIn¹: What is your biggest work-at-home/summer job frustration?
This is what came out after 43 votes:

  • 📶 WiFi going down – 44%

  • 🔐 No access to systems – 23%

  • 🔋 Forgotten chargers – 14%

  • 🛡️ Doubts about safety – 19%

The biggest culprit? WiFi quitting just as you’re about to finish your work. And yes, it always happens at the worst possible time.

Why is this recognizable to so many SMEs?

Many organizations did technically go into the cloud … but not always in a smart way.
Colleagues work on all kinds of devices, in different locations, over different connections.
Once something doesn’t work, it’s unclear what’s wrong – or who should fix it.

This causes stress, wasted time and often: frustration.

How do you solve this without hassle?

The key lies in simplicity and overview:

  • Make sure access is always through one trusted platform (think Microsoft 365)

  • Arrange good VPN or cloud access with secure WiFi checks

  • Make it easy to centralize files and communications

  • Let employees easily manage backups and passwords themselves (without needing IT department)

📌 And above all: Just make sure your IT works. Even in the garden. Or at the campsite.

Do you also regularly find yourself with this kind of IT frustration?

You are not the only one!
