Why your newsletters or emails suddenly end up in spam
Β
You send a newsletter, an offer or just an important email to a customer.
And then β¦ no response. No opens. Or even worse: you hear later that your mail ended up in the spam. π©
Recognizable? You are not the only one.
Chances are itβs down to your email settings
Many SMBs do not have their e-mail domain set up optimally. And as a result:
-
Are mails not being delivered π
-
Do they end up in the spam π§
-
Or do they seem unreliable π
This is often because DMARC, DKIM or SPF are not properly set up. But what actually is that?
Β
Simply explained
π οΈ DMARC, DKIM and SPF are technical settings for your e-mail domain. They ensure that:
-
Your emails really come from you (and not from a scammer posing as your company)
-
Emails arrive neatly in the recipientβs inbox
-
Your domain is trusted by email providers such as Gmail, Outlook and others
Without those settings, your e-mail is like an uninvited guest: it may be allowed in, but is viewed with suspicion β or rejected altogether.
Β
What can you do?
Get a good check on your e-mail domain. Not an unnecessary luxury, especially if:
-
You regularly send out newsletters
-
You rely on e-mail for quotes, invoices or communications
-
You notice that customers are not receiving your emails
With a good DMARC, DKIM and SPF configuration, you ensure that your messages arrive as well as being taken seriously.
