Microsoft Teams Breakout Rooms gets another great feature.

At a time when the world is working or learning from home, Microsoft has announced that it has added several new features to Microsoft Teams. As part of the October 2020 update, Microsoft says it has expanded the Spotlight feature to more users, enabled support for live transcription capabilities with speaker attribution, and more.

In recent months, Microsoft Teams has become an indispensable part of our regular workflows, and Microsoft recently confirmed that it is working on a feature called ‘Breakout Rooms’.

This allows participants to have their private conversation in their individual groups and return to the larger or main meeting later. Microsoft hopes that these detailed controls for teachers or organizers will help them accurately manage online lessons or meetings.

Last month, Microsoft said it plans to allow virtual brainstorming spaces in Microsoft Teams in November. According to the roadmap, the feature is still scheduled for later this month, but it looks like it will be bundled with another excellent addition.

Microsoft has confirmed that it supports “Whiteboard” in the virtual brainstorming rooms. Whiteboard is a feature that allows users to draw, take notes, and share ideas together on a digital canvas.

The same whiteboard experience is offered in all virtual brainstorming rooms on Windows 10 and the web app.

Participants can draw, take notes, and mark their ideas on a whiteboard and share them with others or the organizer/teacher in the main meeting.

At the moment, it’s unclear when the tech giant plans to support whiteboard spaces for mobile users.

According to another roadmap update, a separate december update is planned that allows you to turn on 3 × 3 gallery view for rooms on Android phones, so you can view up to 9 meeting attendees during a meeting.
