Large gallery view and Together mode on the go for Microsoft Teams on the web

What you need to know

  • Microsoft Teams will soon support large gallery view and Together mode on web.
  • The views are currently only available in the Microsoft Teams app.
  • Together mode and large gallery view should be rolled out in February 2021.

Microsoft Teams will soon support large gallery view and Together mode on the web in the Edge and Chrome browsers. At the moment you can use these features in the Microsoft Teams app, but in the near future the option will also appear on the web. With either view, you can see dozens of people in a meeting at the same time.

Support for large gallery view and Together mode on the web is described in the Microsoft 365 roadmap. The dates on the route map can always change as they are only current plans and not dates that Microsoft is committed to.

The large gallery view allows you to see up to 49 people in a 7×7 grid.

Together Mode puts everyone in your meeting in a virtual space, such as a lecture hall. It removes any background people have and then replaces it with the scene you have. Together Mode recently got a few scenes, including a coffee shop and conference room. Microsoft also recently shared some holiday scenes.

Adding support for Together mode and the large gallery view should make it easier to see everyone at once on devices where people can’t or won’t download the Microsoft Teams app.
