Data Security, we really need to address that….

You probably hear that phrase from time to time within your company. But what do we really mean by it?
In conversations with SMEs, we find that there is often a lack of oversight.
🔐 What do we need to protect?
👀 Who may join?
🚨 What if things go wrong?

Three simple questions. Big impact.

During audits and interviews with companies, we often ask three seemingly simple questions:

  • What do you really want to protect?

  • Who has access – and who perhaps shouldn’t (anymore)?

  • What if that info is suddenly on the street?

And the great thing is: this usually sets something in motion. Not to test whether someone is “failing,” but to create clarity. To open the conversation. To finally understand: how vulnerable are we really?

And what does the practice say?

We asked other SMEs in a poll.
Where do you have the most doubt?

📊 Poll result:

  • 38% are mostly unsure about who has access

  • 23% on what exactly should be protected

  • 23% on what happens when info leaks out

  • 15% say, “No idea, help!”

Do you recognize this? Then you’re not the only one. And it’s not crazy at all.

Just a step back: why is this so difficult?

Many organizations grow organically. New colleagues join, files are shared, permissions are copied, systems just keep running…
Until something goes wrong.
Then there is panic: who had access? Where was that file located? Is there a backup?

Small questions, big risk, ALTA-ICT helps!

And fair? These three questions touch directly on your information security – and thus on NIS2, AVG, continuity and your reputation.

✅ Want to get a grip on that without turning everything upside down right away?
Start with a conversation. Just clarify. We like to think with you – without sales pitches.
