Calendar Schedule Soon Available in Outlook
In a recent update, Microsoft announced a new addition to its Microsoft 365 roadmap, specifically targeting Outlook. Users of Outlook on the Web and the new Outlook for Windows now get more extensive control over inbox and calendar sharing options.
Email and calendar sharing in Outlook
Outlook users will soon be able to share their e-mail and calendar information with others, granting different levels of access. This feature offers more flexibility and improves collaboration and communication.
Administrator settings and data share control
An important part of this update is the new ability for administrators to use the Office Policy setting “Disable sharing recommendations.” This setting allows administrators to prevent users from sharing folders, allowing more specific control over data sharing within their organizations.
Users have control over what information they share and with whom. They can choose read-only access, editing privileges or full control. This flexibility ensures efficient sharing with protection of sensitive data.
- In Outlook, select File >Account Settings >Account Settings. You will see a list of your e-mail accounts.
- Select the Microsoft Exchange account you are using to manage someone else’s calendar and choose Change….

- Select the check box next to: Enable improvements in shared calendar.
- Close Outlook and restart the program.
Customized data sharing for organizations
In addition, organizations can customize data sharing and grant access to colleagues, teams or external partners as needed, streamlining communication and project management.
The feature ID for this update is 182261 and was added to the route plan on Oct. 18, 2023.
This update concerns the Outlook product and applies to Cloud instances in GCC and globally (standard multi-tenant). The covered platforms are the Web and desktop. The release phase for this feature is general availability and rollout will begin in November 2023.
