📍If your IT only stands out when things go wrong

An official accidentally leaked citizen address information to criminals. The result? Explosions at people’s homes¹. Sounds bizarre, but it really happened. Probably due to aberrant behavior that no one noticed.

And that brings us to a painful question:
Who notices when someone suddenly exhibits strange networking behavior?

Recognizable signs of aberrant behavior:

🔹 An employee suddenly downloads large amounts of files
🔹 Someone logs in at crazy times – at night or on weekends
🔹 Sensitive information is forwarded to a private email address
🔹 Private storage services such as Dropbox or WeTransfer are used

In many organizations, this goes unnoticed. Until it is too late.

📊 What worries SMEs the most?

We asked in a poll². The responses did not lie:

  • 38% are especially concerned about access to sensitive info

  • 30% miss an alarm when strange behavior occurs

  • 19% do not have a clear plan in case of data breach

  • 14% say: we have no visibility into networking behavior

Once you line it up, you see the pattern:
We lack both overview and action.

🔍 Why this is relevant to SMEs

As an SME, you often don’t have an extensive IT department. You trust that everything works. But who monitors what happens on your network?
Who notices when an employee accidentally (or intentionally) shares data through their private Gmail?

Without monitoring, alerts or incident plans, you are vulnerable. Especially now that the rules around data breaches and NIS2 are getting stricter.

đź‘€ What can you do?

ALTA-ICT helps organizations automatically recognize deviant behavior. So that you:

âś… know who is doing what when
âś… get alarms in case of unusual behavior
âś… have a clear plan in case of data breach
âś… comply with standards such as NIS2 and ISO27001

Not reactively, but proactively. So that you prevent problems, instead of having to solve them.
