Microsoft has fixed an issue with the latest cumulative update for Windows 10 KB5005101.
Users complained that apps couldn’t be opened, closed unexpectedly or stopped responding, or users received a white box when attempting to sign in.
The issue started after installing KB5005101 on devices with Microsoft Exploit Protection Export Address Filtering (EAF).
All supported versions of Windows 10 were affected as well as Windows Server 1809 and above.
Microsoft has addressed the issue by using Known Issue Rollback (KIR), and business users can also resolve the issue by installing and configuring a special group policy.
It may take up to 24 hours for the fix to take effect, but users can speed it up by restarting their PC.
