Progressive Web Apps could be a big problem for the Windows 10 app store in the future, and Microsoft is slowly updating its web services with Progressive Web Apps features, such as offline mode support and push notifications. However, at the moment, many of the sites and Microsoft services we use are just not good PWA. It looks like Microsoft’s OneDrive will finally become a full-fledged Progressive Web App in July. As a real web app, OneDrive can be “installed” on Windows 10 and other devices. By installing OneDrive PWA on your PC, Mac, or Chromebook, you can think of that online storage website more as a native app. OneDrive PWA will remove the traditional address bar at the top of the page and there will be no tabs, meaning everything will look more like a native app. According to the updated roadmap, OneDrive PWA is supported in all popular browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Chrome and Firefox.
Microsoft is in the process of changing storage for new recordings of Microsoft Teams meetings from Microsoft Stream (classic) to OneDrive and SharePoint (ODSP). The move to ODSP unlocks long-awaited features, including external sharing and guest sharing, retention policy application, GoLocal support, and BYOK support for customers. Microsoft planned to make the move mandatory on July 7, 2021, but today announced that the move would be delayed until August 16 to ensure the availability of transcript-driven subtitles and the ability to block downloads.

Microsoft will soon allow you to upload even larger files to OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint, increasing the limit from 100GB to 250GB. The larger file size limit may be good news for people who work from home because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and have to upload large projects like 4K and 8K video, CAD files, or scientific datasets to the cloud so they can be shared with colleagues and customers. According to Microsoft, the change will also be transferred to OneDrive for personal use, which could make it easier for you to upload large photo or video collections.
To share a OneDrive file with a group of people so far, you need to type the names of all the people you wanted to share with. Microsoft is now simplifying this experience by enabling one-click sharing with family and groups. To use this feature, you must first pre-define your family or group of friends. Learn how to set up your family or a group of friends: To set up your family, go to family.microsoft.com, select Create a Family Group, and follow the instructions. Note: All members of the group need a Microsoft account, and each must accept your invitation to the group to access it. (You can also set up a family group on Xbox or with the Family Safety app.)
Yes, OneDrive can be hacked. This also applies to any online service. The real question is, how likely is it, and are there other things we should be worried about? Next question? Okay, okay, it’s obviously not that simple. Even though the answer is technically ‘yes’, there is much, much more at play here. First, there are much more important things to worry about, and second, there are a lot of information in cloud storage, including OneDrive.
If the OneDrive client is actively syncing files, you’ll see the sync symbol (Image #1) over the OneDrive icon in the notification area. Clicking the OneDrive icon displays a list of files that are in the sync queue. On the device I was dissolving, OneDrive uploaded a series of large media files that had recently been transferred to the local drive. By default, the upload speed of the OneDrive sync client is not limited. In other words, it can saturate your upload bandwidth. If the client syncs small office files, or if a large amount of upload bandwidth is available, the default setting may not be a problem.
Microsoft’s embedded reader will be rolled out to more of the company’s apps later this year. In the coming months, PowerPoint and OneDrive will receive support for embedded reader. In addition, students can now enable embed reader in OneNote Forms. Microsoft outlines support for embedded readers in a new post. October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and October 2020 is also the 75th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Immersive Reader was originally created to help people with dyslexia, although the program has evolved to help in other areas as well. Embedded reader allows you to customize the look of text. You can try the tool on Microsoft Edge to see the options it offers. It can highlight and label speech sharing, change the size and theme of text, focus on specific rules, and has several other ways to make reading easier.
