Immersive Reader understuening for OneDrive and PowerPoint

PowerPoint and OneDrive will get immersive reader support this year.

Microsoft’s embedded reader will be rolled out to more of the company’s apps later this year. In the coming months, PowerPoint and OneDrive will receive support for embedded reader. In addition, students can now enable embed reader in OneNote Forms. Microsoft outlines support for embedded readers in a new post. October is Dyslexia Awareness Month and October 2020 is also the 75th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Immersive Reader was originally created to help people with dyslexia, although the program has evolved to help in other areas as well. Embedded reader allows you to customize the look of text. You can try the tool on Microsoft Edge to see the options it offers. It can highlight and label speech sharing, change the size and theme of text, focus on specific rules, and has several other ways to make reading easier.

The Microsoft Immersive Reader is a free tool built into Word, OneNote, Outlook, Office Lens, Microsoft Teams, Forms, Flipgrid, Minecraft Education Edition and the Edge browser, which implement proven techniques to improve reading and writing for people no matter their age. Immersive Reader creates a learning environment that is accessible to readers of all levels and ages. Immersive Reader helps students with learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, using solutions for decoding text and help readers build trust through features such as Line Focus and Picture Dictionary. Students learn at different speeds and learning styles, which can be particularly challenging in a remote learning situation. To enable parents to support students of all reading levels or those who have difficulty reading or writing due to dyslexia or dysgraphy, Microsoft has built learning tools like Immersive Reader into our educational experiences, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Edge, Teams, OneNote, Flipgrid, and Minecraft: Education Edition. Today, Immersive Reader employs more than 23 million people with dyslexia and learning disabilities every month. Microsoft recently announced that Immersive Reader is integrated into our Microsoft Edge browser so students can choose how they want to read online and help caregivers remove distractions.
